Well I can go back slightly on what I said about moving sucking, I don’t so much mind the moving side of things, it was the leaving all my friends in Lincoln that sucked so …

The view of things to come

no-imageAs you may have noticed the new look site is now live. There are still a few issues with the backend code that I need to sort out but it’s definitely getting there.

I’m currently busy working on Bullet Magazine’s website with the view to have that running by Freshers week at Uni, everything is running on track again at the moment, just have to hope I don’t start getting more errors that I stupidly create by not reading the Zend docs properly again.

I’m looking to add some features to the system over the coming weeks / months and thought I’d put them on here so I don’t forget, and so you can see what the system will be able to do.

Image management for content articles.

Dynamic banner images for the home page

Search functionality for the content articles

Poll system for people that wish to add polls to the website

File download area for members

Gallery area so people can upload images of events, etc

The ability to disable the user blogs for websites that don’t use them

Complete redesign and development of the administration area of the CMS

I think that about covers everything I have on my plate at present, obciously there will be more to come, but for now I think that is enough to be getting on with.

My aim is to keep the database structure the same for each version of this system to allow updating to be done in a much simpler fashion, and so that existing data is not lost during the update process. Currently all updating, and installing of the system is manual, but I am looking into writing an install and update system when I get around to it. Maybe even look into an automatic update system, but that is way into the future I think, we shall see.

Well I think that’s it for now, back to the grind and start ticking things off my list of features to add.

Adam
