Well I can go back slightly on what I said about moving sucking, I don’t so much mind the moving side of things, it was the leaving all my friends in Lincoln that sucked so …

Life and a guitar

Submitted by Adam Boardman on Thursday, 4 September 2008No Comment

handmade_guitar_picksWell not my usual sort of technical mumbo jumbo blog post, but this time instead I thought I’d just whack some things I’ve been doing and thinking about recently on here.

Well it’s been pretty boring over the last few weeks if I’m honest, not done much development work and have got pretty irritated by a certain client of Devarios, so thought it was about time I had a break. The Bullet Magazine website has progressed as far as this site, and it needs to be ready for the 15th September, oh the joy.

During my break from development as I needed a holiday of sorts, I’ve been playing loads of guitar, watching loads of movies, listening to loads of music, and actually leaving the house to go out with mates to Sugar Cubes, or Rock Haven. I wasn’t until a friend came over here and we were sat pissing about listening to random songs and seeing if we could name the song and artist that it dawned on us, we should jam together and see what we come up with. So this got me thinking and listening to different music again.

I’ve taken the chance while on "holiday" to start trying to write more songs, and also start to design the guitar I’ve been promising myself for the past 5-6 years. This guitar is going to be one that you can’t buy in the shops and completely customized by myself and will hopefully be ready and built by end of October this year.

The guitar spec is still being worked on but for a rough overview I’ll list the main important things I’ve been thinking about when designing it.

Body will be a modified Les Paul shape

Headstock is being designed from the ground up by me to fit the tuners how I want them

The neck has to have 24 frets, I’m still working on what size

The pickup arrangement will be an H-S-H arrangement

The bridge will be a Floyd Rose double locking tremolo with my own design Piezo system

Custom wiring and electronics will be going into the guitar

This is the basic outline of what I want to do, I will make a section on this website devoted to the guitar build when I get a spare minute soon, and start putting up my plans and thoughts on the guitar. I don’t really want to let too much out of the hat just yet as nothing is 100% certain, I’m still not even sure how I want to finish the guitar.

Well I guess it’s back to work again to get things finished off properly.

Adam
