Live Production intro

Submitted by Adam Boardman on Wednesday, 30 September 2009No Comment

Uni logoSo today I had my first ‘Live Production’ lecture today which was pretty good and a decent intro to this module.

I have 3 weeks of working in ‘The Engine Shed’ learning about the live mixer, PA, mic placement, amp selection, mic selection, etc. I’m really looking forward to this after helping put on the Kick-Ups gigs for Christopher Sands, I think it may actually be something that I want to pursue as a possible career (just wait for me to say that about everything in the coming months!).

After these 3 weeks of practical work, I have a test on the equipment to make sure I am competent in using it to the correct level, and then the week after that I will have 3 hours to get a band in, set-up, sound check, tuning the rig, setting monitor mixes, and FOH mixes, etc. Even with these two rather large tests; I’m no fan of tests at all, I’m really looking forward to all of this live practical work.
