My first frontier technologies lecture was on Friday and I was a little surprised at what this module will be covering.

From the title you would think that this unit would be covering all the aspects of the latest and greatest technologies from all different sectors, but alas this is not the case. This unit is all about what you are going to do AFTER you have finished uni. This is a good idea but to be called Frontier Technologies is a little misleading I feel.

My assignments for this module are to write a CV, Covering Letter, and to apply for one of the pretend jobs that are posted on Blackboard. Now correct me if I’m wrong here but I thought I was in uni, not secondary school! I can understand the importance of these things, however if any of my fellow students are like me they will already have done this at school. The lectures for the module are pretty much all guest speakers coming to talk about their jobs, how to go about getting a job in that area, and that sort of thing.

I must admit I am pretty interested to see what this guest speakers will have to say, however I’m not overly thrilled about the assignments, but I’m not going to moan about it this year, just going to get it done and move on with the main dissertation, and audio project.
