Site and server issues

Submitted by Adam Boardman on Sunday, 4 October 2009No Comment

serverIf you’ve seen this site before or recently, you will notice that the entire look has changed and the site is now running WordPress, I have a few reasons for this the biggest being my servers.

I run a few sites and recently I noticed that they were starting to run a little slow, after a few hours of trying to speed things up I found it was actually the server that was causing the issue. I’ve now relocated my sites to 2 new cloud servers which are setup to load balance to try and spread the memory and cpu load. That’s the technical stuff done so all that needs to be known really is that everything should be faster and more stable now.

The move to WordPress comes after I have decided that with my third year of uni just starting, and the amount of work I have to get done, I just don’t think I’m going to have the time to continue development on Krome CMS at the moment. This doesn’t mean that I’m not going to develop it anymore, but it’s going to be a sandpit style app for a while, just until I get things built fully enough for it not to be a work in progress. The biggest issue with it currently is that it has a large impact on memory usage which I need to find and get rid of the bug.

I am going to be starting a few development projects during the course of my third year at uni so I will be documenting those on here, along with moving all my uni related blog to here also. The old uni.boardyuk.com web address will point directly to this page once all the DNS has been sorted so those who have been looking at that site can still find it.

Well I think that’s about it for now, onwards and upwards!
