Well I can go back slightly on what I said about moving sucking, I don’t so much mind the moving side of things, it was the leaving all my friends in Lincoln that sucked so …

Short and sweet

Uni logoI had possibly the shortest lecture yesterday for my Live Sound Production unit. Basically I found out what is happening in the unit, what we’re going to be going through in The Engine Shed, and what I should know already.

This was pretty much the same thing as last week but going more in depth into the sorts of things that we should know, or that we should be looking at to have an idea about for next week. We also went over some common live setups with regards to routing, and processing. I’d completely forgot how much there is to go through with live work as last time I was doing live sound I was running my ProTools TDM rig, and the SDR24′s recording the gig.

We will be using a Yamaha M7CL 48 channel digital desk. I’ve only really ever used a Yamaha 02R-96, Soundcraft Spirit, and a few other analogue desks for recording so this will be a big learning curve for me into the digital desk realm. I use a control surface for my ProTools TDM rig but that’s mainly for tactile fader and pan control.

I’m really looking forward to getting into The Engine Shed, and getting my hands dirty setting up for a live gig, and learning how these big digital desks really do their magic.
